This will be the last book discussion for the October releases (even though there's another book coming out here in another few days. I'm going to lump that book together with the new hardcover release of the next in the series coming out in November). The Collected Short Fiction of C.J. Cherryh is another anthology *gasp!*, but this time of only C.J. Cherryh's work.

My local bookstore doesn't have a copy of this book yet, which is . . . annoying . . . so I can't give you guys a table of contents for it, which is what I'd planned on doing (and why this didn't go up a little earlier . . . I kept hoping they'd get it in). So if anyone out there has snagged a copy, if you could post the table of contents in the comments, I'd appreciate it.
I have to admit that I haven't read too many of C.J. Cherryh's books or short stories, which is why I'm looking forward to getting this book. I do have many of C.J. Cherryh's books . . . but diving into them is a little daunting. Where do I start? Any suggestions from the readers out there? I have most of the recent series (the "Foreigner" series, etc), but don't know where that particular universe started, and I'd like to begin at the beginning. I have read some of her other series, such as the "Rusalka" series. But that brings up the question: which of her series do you guys enjoy the most? Why? What is it about C.J. Cherryh's books that you love? Is it the characters, the plots, the aliens? She has some fantasy series as well. Does she handle the fantasy creatures differently than her aliens?
Tell everyone what you think about C.J. Cherryh!

Forgot to say in first graph, actions and storylines never predictable. I remember when I read 40,000 in Gehenna I stayed up all night on a work night because I could NOT put it down. | |
