Time for the new books you'll see on the shelf from DAW for June 2012! We've got new Mercedes Lackey, new Barbara Ashford, and the first book in Laura Resnick's Esther Diamond series being re-released by DAW this month. So, without further ado:

First up is the new Mercedes Lackey novel Home from the Sea, part of the Elemental Masters series.

In Edwardian Britain, magic is real. And Masters of the Elements control Fire, Water, Air, and Earth . . .
Mari Prothero has lived all her life with her father, Daffyd, in a tiny fishing village on the coast of Wales. Though Daffyd takes his boat out on the sea regardless of weather, Mari has learned not to fear for his safety, for her father is a Water mage, and always comes home safely with a large catch. Mari knows that in her family, children are expected to marry at eighteen, to an appropriate stranger. However, Mari is a fledgling Water Master with a rebellious nature. She has no intention of agreeing to any arranged marriage. But Mari has yet to learn the truth of the magical heritage that must be protected by these very marriages. For the Protheros are descended from Selkies-—magical beings who are able to change from seals to humans—-and to continue her line, she must marry a full-blooded Selkie . . .

Next up, we have the second novel by Barbara Ashford, Spellcrossed, the sequel to Spellcast.

IT’S NOT EASY LOSING THE MAGIC IN YOUR LIFE . . .
But when Maggie Graham freed Rowan Mackenzie to return to Faerie, she took the first step toward her new life as director of the Crossroads Theatre. A hectic new season of summer stock leaves her little time to moon over the past. She has to balance the demands of her interfering board president and a company of actors that includes bewildered amateurs, disdainful professionals, a horde of children, and an arthritic dog. And while Maggie yearns to give others the kind of healing she found at the Crossroads, even she recognizes that magic must take a back seat to ticket sales.
But magic is hard to banish from the old white barn. Memories lurk like ghosts in the shadowy wings and the unexpected is as time-honored a tradition as the curtain call. And when the tangled spells of Maggie’s past turn her life upside down, it will take more than faery magic to ensure the happy-ever-after ending she longs for. . . .

We also have the re-release by DAW of Laura Resnick's Disappearingly Nightly, the first book in her Esther Diamond series.

When mysterious mystical disappearances disrupt her career, struggling actress Esther Diamond teams up with Maximillian Zadok, an eccentric elderly wizard whose day job is protecting the Big Apple from Evil. Meanwhile, the sexy NYPD detective investigating the disappearances fears that Esther and Max may be a bigger problem than the vanishing performers.

And lastly, we have the paperback release of Mercedes Lackey's previous Elemental Masters novel, Unnatural issue.

Richard Whitestone is an Elemental Earth Master. Blaming himself for the death of his beloved wife in childbirth, he has sworn never to set eyes on his daughter, Suzanne. But when he finally sees her, a dark plan takes shape in his twisted mind--to use his daughter's body to bring back the spirit of his long-dead wife.
